The basics

What is a Digital Signature Certificate?

A Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) is the electronic equivalent of your handwritten signature. It proves who you are when you sign or submit documents online, and shows that the document has not been changed after you signed it.

A DSC is issued by a Certifying Authority licensed by the Controller of Certifying Authorities (CCA), and documents signed with it are legally valid under the Information Technology Act, 2000.
